DRY-FIT WOOD PANELS

Virginia Tech School of Architecture + Design
ARCH 2044: Building Materials
2-week project
Fall 2014

This exercise in wood joints was taught in collaboration with guest lecturer Alfred Zolliner of Matter Practice and Parsons School of Design in New York. Each team was asked to iteratively construct three wood panels 3’x3’ and up to 6” thick. To encourage deeper understanding of the material of wood, the panels must be assembled using only dry fit joints, with no glue or mechanical fasteners.
